2019 - A New Dream
All the choirs accomplishments are notable and although there are those that are well publicised, they are no greater than those that only a few know about.
Since winning the title of BBC Songs Of Praise, ‘Gospel Choir Of the Year’ 2015, the choir have continued to go on from strength to strength. Jon Conway invited the choir to perform in the worlds biggest pantomime production at the Barclay card arena in December. It was a spectacular event with a host of stars like Bradley Walsh & Paul O’Grady. The choir tried a winning hand in performing during the opening of each show and in a feature song ‘Who Does The Slipper Fit’ in the actual performance. Maxine was chosen to sing the lead vocals!
The choir have been featured on various artists Cd’s such as Dion Dublin’s Christmas. In 2016, they featured on two tracks on Gareth Malone’s new CD album, ‘A Great British Christmas’, singing on ‘Oh Holy Night’ & ‘Keeping The Dream Alive’. Having left a good impression after their first meeting, they joined Gareth again in December in a choir ensemble for the BBC Sports Personality Awards Event. Here they added their unique gospel sound to Gareth’s original arrangement of David Bowie’s, ‘Heroes’, and sang in front of a backdrop of images of sporting heroes who were remembered with honour. Gareth again invited us to sing with him on his Birmingham tour date at the prestigious Symphony Hall in November 2017.
In 2017, for the first time in the choirs history, the choir held auditions for new members to join them in their mission to spread the gospel through worship. They also began recording their first studio CD!
For ‘Sing Ultimate A Capella’, a new singing competition on Sky 1 hosted by Cat Deeley, a new A Capella group within the choir called ‘BCGC Seven’ was formed to participate in it and were successful in winning their heat.
Maxine joined Geri Horner (Halliwell Spice Girl) & Rob Beckett and 100 judges for the new Saturday night, BBC One prime time talent entertainment show ‘All Together Now.’ It starts on Saturday 27th January.
