Maxine Brooks has been singing and writing songs since the age of nine and has worked with many famous artists including UB40, Gregory Isaacs, Sybil, Cliff Richards, London Beat, Max Beasley, Paradise Musical Youth, Soul 2 Soul, Take 6, Mica Paris and Sounds of Blackness. Maxine was also a member of The Nurses, a singing group whose first single ‘Cant Smile Without You’ (Barry Manilow), raised money for the Nurse Aid Charity.
Maxine began directing The Birmingham Community Gospel Choir from its conception in June 2005, and has been successful in shaping the choir sound and style that it is known for today.
The choir members are a special group of people who are dedicated to attending weekly rehearsals and performing at a variety of events. Each performance is memorable and the choir is becoming increasingly popular with every appearance. Maxine’s ambition for the choir is that it will set a high standard of performing gospel and inspirational music that is recognised among the success and popularity of other well known gospel artists and choirs.
